Varsity Falls to Fishers In Season Opener

The Raiders hosted Fishers in their season opener on Wednesday evening. Despite a relentless defensive effort and high-energy chemistry, the Raiders fell in a tightly contested straight-set sweep with scores of 19-25, 22-25, and 23-25. While Harrison was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Fishers' winning margin in every set. Harrison's blocking was a major highlight, and their serve-receive remained disciplined under pressure, providing a solid foundation for their offense to work. However, the "season opener jitters" manifested in unforced errors and occasional communication breakdowns. Despite the "L" on the stat sheet, the atmosphere on the floor was one of resilience. The Raiders displayed exceptional teamwork and positive attitudes, refusing to let their heads hang even as the Tigers pulled away late in the third. Cole Hess led the offense attack with 9 kills. Emerson Mohr and Trey Easley both also had a great night at the net with 8 kills each. Libero, Antonio Figueras, not only passed well in serve receive, but he also led with 12 digs. Trey Easley and Kaleb Patton put up strong blocks, with each totaling 5 for the night. On multiple occasions, Kegan Wargo went on service runs requiring Fishers to call a time-out. The team will work on cleaning up some of their unforced errors and strengthening their communication as they prepare to host Irvington Prep, North Putnum, and Terre Haute South in a Round Robin starting at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday.
