AVON, IN — August 29, 2026 — The Harrison High School boys cross country team continued its strong start to the 2026 season Saturday morning, placing third at the prestigious Oriole Hokum Karem at Avon High School. Harrison scored 32 points, finishing behind Brownsburg (6) and Avon (26), while defeating Northview (37) and Pendleton Heights. The unique Hokum Karem format features two athletes alternating one-mile legs for a total of six miles, making teamwork, consistency, and pacing critical throughout the race. Harrison entered five varsity pairs, with the Raider runners competing against some of central Indiana's strongest programs. Jacob Tilton and Jonathan King represented Harrison's top pair, while Logan Breon and Jango Lane competed as the second pair. Other Harrison pairs included Morgan Weathers and Fernando Samayo-Lopez , David Estep and Liam Richards, and Eamon DeWitt and Micah Cook. The Raiders also received an outstanding performance from their JV squad. Harrison came in second in the JV 2-mile team competition with 24 points, finishing ahead of Avon (29), Bishop Chatard (40) and Northview (66). Brownsburg won with 6 points. The meet gave Harrison's developing runners another chance to gain valuable race experience while competing against several of the state's top programs. The Hokum Karem is particularly demanding because runners must not only run their own mile legs well, but also work together with their teammate to produce the best combined team time. The format rewards athletes who can maintain their effort throughout multiple trips around the course.
